Résumé

Pour contribuer à résoudre les tensions au travail, la mise en place d’espaces de discussion (EDD) a été plébiscitée par des auteurs majeurs en sciences sociales. Les auteurs poursuivent ici ces recherches en posant l’hypothèse que le concept de tensions de rôle peut contribuer au développement des EDD dans les organisations, aussi bien d’un point de vue théorique qu’opératoire en favorisant les échanges centrés sur le travail réel. À l’aide d’une expérimentation conduite en recherche-intervention chez Enedis, leurs résultats montrent que, traduites en mots simples, les tensions de rôle agissent en tant qu’opérateur de langage facilitant la construction d’un « terrain d’entente » entre les participants à un EDD et que cette méthode concourt à la (re)construction des collectifs de travail.

Abstract

To help reduce tensions in the workplace, designing spaces for discussion has been recommended by major authors in many disciplines in social sciences. We continue these researches with the assumption that the concept of role tensions might help develop these spaces in organizations, both from theoretical and operating points of view. We suggest that discussion will be fostered through the introduction of a common language focused on real work. We conduct an intervention research at Enedis, a French company trying to help its managers to speak of work in a different way. Among other elements, our results show that when put in simple words, role tensions act as a media that helps build a “middle ground” among participants of the designed space and this design helps (re)build work collectives.
